Joint Family System is disintegrating in our Society nowadays, thereby leaving the senior citizens out of the fold. It is where PRASANTHI OLD AGE WELFARE HOME steps into giving solace to the senior citizens in their day to day life, without any restriction of caste, creed and sex.

The Physical and mental needs will be looked after, sumptuous food will be provided for maintaining the physical condition while the spiritual needs for the peaceful and mental condition will also be fulfilled.

The Inauguration

Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home was started on 24.5.1998 by Hon’ble Justice Shri Rathnavel Pandian, Former Supreme Court Judge, Chairman, Fifth Planning Commission of India, at Banquet Hall, Hotel Karpagam, Mylapore, Chennai.

Smt. Sarojini Varadhappan, Socialist, Shri, V.G. Santhosham, Industrialist, Shri. K. S. Raghuram, Cine Dance Director, given their felicitations. Tmt. Girija Raghuram, lighted the Kuthuvilakku.

15th Anniversary celebrations
Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home celebrated it’s 15th Anniversary on 24th May, 2013 Friday at 6 p.m. at Narada Gana Sabha, Chennai 18. The Presidential Address was given by Honorable Justice Thiru M. Karapaga Vinayagam (Former Chief Justice, Jharkhand High Court).

He appreciated the services rendered by the Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home to the senior citizens for the past 15 years and also he appreciated the founder Shri. Rajagopala Balaji for dedicating his life for the upliftment of the Old Age People of the society. The Kuthuvilakku was lighted by Smt. Preetha Reddy, Managing Director (Apollo Hospitals).

The felicitations was given by, Thiru. R. Natraj I.P.S (Former D.G.P of Tamilnadu), Cine choreographer Thiru. K.S. Raghuram, Thiru. Harish Mehta (Chairman Indian Red Cross Society, Tamilnadu), Thiru. V. Ramesh (Managing Director, Sanmar Engineering Services), Thiru. Crazy Mohan (Drama Artist).

A souvenir about Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home was released by Honorable Justice Thiru. M. Karpagavinayagam and the first copy was received by Thiru. R. Natraj I.P.S. Welcome address was given by Advocate Thiru. K. Arivazhagan, Vote of Thanks given by Thiru. Aravind Shankaran. The elaborate arrangements was made by Mrs. J. Gayathri (Trustee) and all the staffs of Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home.
17th Anniversary celebrations

Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home celebrated it’s 17th Anniversary on 24th May, 2015 Sunday at 11 a.m. at Door No. 1 & 3, Heritage Vijayendra Nagar, Phase 1, VPK Street, Perungudi, Chennai – 96.

On this occassion, Kutuvilakku was lighted by Smt. Lakshmi Ammal, Trustee Sri. Prithiyangira Siddhar Peetam Trust and also by Sri. Prithiyangira Swamigal of Sholinganallur, Sri Prithiyangira Devi Temple. Donors and Guest participated in the function on that day.

20th Anniversary celebrations

Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home celebrated it’s 20th Anniversary on 24th May, 2018 Thursday between 6.30 pm and 9.00 pm at Narada Gana Sabha, #314, T.T.K Road, Alwarpet, Chennai-600018. On this occasion the Welcome Address by Thiru Aravind Sankaran, Advisory Board of Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home, Presidential Address was given by Thiru. O.S. Manian, Hon’ble Minister for Handloom& Textiles, Government of TamilNadu.

The felicitations was given by Dr V. Shanta, Chairman- Cancer Institute(WIA), Thiru. Saidai S. Duraisamy Chairman – Manidhaneyam IAS Academy, Thiru Nalli. Kuppusami, Induatrialist, Tmt. Latha Rajendran, Correspondent- Dr. M.G.R. Janaki Arts & Science College

About Founder


Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home was founded by Shri RAJAGOPALA BALAJI, a B.Com. Graduate.He is a ardent devotee of Bhagwan Shirdi Sai Baba and Bhagwan Shri Satya Sai Baba and staunch follower of Bharat Ratna Dr. M.G.R.

 He has dedicated his life to the upkeep and well being of the old aged people of the society. He is in social service from 18 years old and still remains a bachelor. For starting this Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home, his great inspirations are his parents, Sri Satya Sai Baba, Dr. M.G.R., and his close friend Dr. Sunita Jagadish (USA). His only ambition is to purchase a land around Chennai to build a pucca building with all necesary facilities needed for housing atleast 100 senior citizens and to provide them with food, shelter and accomodation along with medical attention at free of cost.

About the Managing Trustee


Smt  J. Gayathri, B.Com., Graduate, has dedicated her entire life to the service of the needy. An ardent Devotee of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba,  Shirdi Sai Baba and Kanchi MahaPeriyava and Purathchi Thalaivar MGR. She has brought into practice, their sayings of Love all and Serve All, by doing service to the needy over the last 24 years.

She is the Managing Trustee of Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home and Charitable Trust Which was started in year May 24th 1998. For the past 24 years, through the Old Age Home she has served more than 500 Old Age people by providing them Food, Shelter and Medical attention through the Prasanthi Old Age Welfare Home.
